Abstract
This chapter explores the concept of coordination in the context of humanitarian logistics. Effective coordination is essential to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most. However, coordinating the efforts of diverse organizations poses significant hurdles. In this chapter, we delve into these challenges, emphasizing the dynamic nature of humanitarian operations over the disaster management lifecycle. We also detail the different levels of coordination, from information sharing to joint decision-making and collaboration. We conclude with a discussion on the current state of coordination in the humanitarian sector, identifying some of the key challenges that demand research as they are so closely intertwined with practical application. © The Editors and Contributors Severally 2025.
