Abstract
The introduction of new digital production technology is transforming the broadcasting industry. Producing TV programs is no longer what it used to be. The new technology available is revolutionizing the industry, and broadcasting companies have no choice but to adopt the new technology. And this adoption has to take place while producing TV and broadcasting every hour of every day.
This chapter tells a story from the Swedish public-service broadcaster – Sveriges Television (SVT). The transformation from production using old technology to a new situation makes new demands for sharing knowledge within the organization, which in turn create new challenges for the people involved. SVT needs to start using the new technology in a way that enhances the firm’s performance.
This chapter pays special attention to approaches for improving knowledge sharing among project leaders within the organization. This in turn is a crucial factor in effectively meeting the new external demands placed on the organization to harness the potential of the new technology and to produce “more TV for the money”.
