Abstract
Between January and April 2022, with the official approval of the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (Dnr 2021-048898), I conducted two series of interviews with eight tetraplegic persons (four men and four women). They had been living with a severe spinal cord injury (SCI) and a wheelchair for several decades. They led what they and their community considered to be good lives, and while their body was severely disabled, their cognitive functions were intact. I was first and foremost interested in their personal philosophy of life and how philosophizing might have helped them to accept, overcome or transcend their condition.
