Abstract
For resourcefulness and social innovations, the focus is on individual action for creative problem solving in a time of chaos for which adapting to new possible solutions and routines is central. As social innovations and resourcefulness both emphasize social relationships and context specificity, this chapter sees social relationships as the main mechanism of mobilizing resources in a community. At an individual level, the entrepreneurs relied on personal efforts or support from family and friends while at the collaborative level they mobilized resources by creating and extending their social networks and using co-optation or community involvement as their entrepreneurial resourcefulness strategy. Informal entrepreneurs in this study expanded their businesses by developing social ties and their readiness for using local resources and local social processes. In this study, the authors acknowledges and extends the discussion on resourcefulness and social innovations and hope that future research will provide deeper insights into entrepreneurial resourcefulness and social innovation initiatives in the informal economic space.
