Abstract

This symposium offers insights and practical guidelines for conducting ethnographic research in “unusual” entrepreneurial and organizational contexts, with particular attention to the role of the body. Although ethnography has long been valued for illuminating life in and around organizations, ethnographic studies that foreground entrepreneurship as an embodied, situated, practice in extreme, marginalized, or otherwise unconventional settings remain relatively scarce. A panel of experts will share their experiences working in such contexts, highlighting how bodily sensations, emotions, and movement can inform access, sensemaking, and theorizing.
