Abstract
Studying the influence of top managers—the upper echelons of an organization—on company performance has developed into a distinct research stream, known as " strategic leadership. " It focuses on how the characteristics and behaviours of strategic leaders shape strategy and impact organizations. The latter is also being of interest to Strategy-as-Practice (SAP) scholars. This entry outlines the evolution of strategic leadership research, its differences and complementarities with SAP, and proposes areas for future research.
