Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to review the evidence of the relation between cost and benefits of treating hypertension. The review will focus on results relevant for developing guidelines for treatment. Both the cost of treating hypertension and the potential benefits of treatments will vary between countries, and with the indications for treatment. We will focus on results that can be generalized over countries and time, and leave more detailed analysis for specific questions to other publications.
