Expertise

Anna Essén is an Associate Professor with the Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology at the Stockholm School of Economics. She is committed to the study of how digital technology is shaped by and shapes what individuals, organizations, and societies focus their attention on, find it worthwhile to aim for and feel capable of achieving. Ongoing research studies cross-sectorial innovation of autonomous transport in smart cities and solutions for preventive health, and the regulation of digital health platforms and biobanks. Anna also leads projects about organizational ignoring and whistleblowing. Ongoing research studies the neglect of unjust consequences of algorithmic decision making in public sector, the dismissal of warnings about unethical behavior in health care organizations, and the evolving conflict battles following whistleblowing.
