Jessica Backsell is Wallander postdoc at Centre for Philosophies of Markets at Stockholm School of Economics and a visiting fellow at European Institute at LSE.
She is originally market scholar by training, drawing upon an interdisciplinary set of literature including classical anthropology, STS and ignorance studies exploring how markets organise in order to produce and perform value.
Today her research interest has moved towards the political dimension, focusing on how cultural dynamics at the “end of history” have caused a political shift towards postliberal and/or authoritarian ideas and how this shift in turn affects power dynamics and the ways in which actors organise.
