Expertise

Christoph Baldauf is an Assistant Professor of Marketing Analytics at the Center for Retailing, Department of Marketing & Strategy. With a background in operations management, his work focuses on empirical research at the intersection of marketing and operations. In particular, he studies how logistics and operations impact customer behavior in online and omnichannel retail. Christoph’s thesis earned the Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Association of European Operational Research Societies. Additionally, he is a recipient of the Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Postdoctoral Fellowship. In his research, he has collaborated with national and international retailers. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Management Science and Journal of Operations Management.

Christoph earned his Ph.D., titled “Empirical Essays on Retail Logistics and Customer Behavior,” and an M.Sc. in Operations Management & Control from Stockholm University. In addition, he has acquired extensive international experience through several research visits, including at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University. At the Stockholm School of Economics, Christoph is the course director for Retail Operations and serves as the faculty representative of the Synsam Retail Club. Prior to his current role, he gained academic and professional experience in several additional international settings, including Germany, Australia, China, the Netherlands, and the United States.
