Expertise
My general research interest is what passes for knowledge in different contexts. One particular area of interest is managerial discourses and professional identities. This is also the area of interest in the dissertation - "De otillräckliga - En studie av personalspecialisternas kamp för erkännande och status" (The Recurrent Sense of Inadequacy: A Study of HR-managers Struggle for Legitimacy) - which I defended in 2002. Theoretically I am influenced by a more Interpretive perspective (sociology of knowledge) and a more critical perspective. In my view questions of knowledge usually raise questions of power.
This broad theoretical interest has been employed and developed in for example following post dissertation projects:
- Attractive schools. A study of a five year change programme in Swedish schools and the attempt to make the teaching profession more attractive. Focus is on the conflict between teacher’s identification with their profession and the identification with the local school.
- A study of the (re)production of management knowledge within MBA programmes
- HRM (Practices in Human Resource Management)
- Virtual Leadership - Organizing and leadership in MMOG:s (Massively Multiplayer Online Games)
- The Future of Business Schools
I have been teaching mainly in the areas of management, organisation theory, human resource management, qualitative methodology, philosophy of science in both courses for undergraduate students, graduate students, MBA students, executives and PhD-students.
In sum, my teaching experience is extensive and varied. I have been teaching at all levels, in different roles (program director, course director, teacher), using different pedagogical methods and tools. I have been teaching both in English and Swedish mainly within the SSE sphere, but also for various companies and organizations in the private and public sector.
