Lukas Goretzki is a full professor of management accounting & control and head of department of accounting at SSE. He holds a doctorate from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and has been a faculty member at the University of Innsbruck before joining SSE. Lukas has been a visiting professor at WHU, the University of Sydney, the University of Innsbruck and the University of Luxembourg. He is currently a visiting professor at the Turku School of Economics. Lukas' main research interests are the roles/identities of controllers, budgeting, forecasting, performance measurement and the effects of digitalization on the finance function. His research draws on qualitative methodologies and was published in journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Management Accounting Research, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, European Accounting Review, or Accounting and Business Research.
Lukas is an associate editor of the European Accounting Review and The British Accounting Review as well as an editorial board member of Accounting, Organizations and Society, Management Accounting Research, Accounting and Business Research, Financial Accountability and Management Journal, and Journal of Management Accounting Research. Until 2026, he was an editor of the journal Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management.
