Expertise
Margo is a postdoctoral researcher working on sustainability issues in public management. She received her PhD in sustainable entrepreneurship from the university of Groningen. Her research areas include 1) public procurement and the circular economy, 2) organizational goals and wellbeing, and 3) sustainable entrepreneurship. She focuses mostly on qualitative research, conducting case studies in fields that are relevant to sustainable development.
Public procurement and the circular economy
Public procurement (purchasing) has a large potential to influence markets by creating demand for sustainable innovations. Margo’s research focuses on current boundaries for public procurement for the circular economy and how these can be overcome.
Organizational goals and wellbeing
Organizations can adopt social, environmental, and economic goals that seem to align on the managerial level, but that clash when adopted by the rest of the organization. Margo’s research focuses on the stress that employees experience when organizational goals clash, and which strategies organizations and employees use to deal with clashing sustainability goals and resulting wellbeing effects.
Sustainable entrepreneurship
Margo’s sustainable entrepreneurship research revolves around how, why, and where sustainable entrepreneurs pursue opportunities for sustainable business and societal change. Her research therefore centers on sustainable entrepreneurial motivations, strategies, and ecosystems.
